In May 2020, a group of people, some friends, some strangers, joined to embrace the idea of honoring George Floyd's last 10 minutes of life. Together they quickly formed a "communal faith-response" called Redeem the Ten and moved into the national spotlight with thousands of others who were outraged by the "senseless murders of black men, women, and children" during those unprecedented times of uprising and uncertainty. They created multigenerational/cross-cultural/multi-modal programming for 10 weeks from June through August 2020. Each week the panel focused on a theme that intended to provide a new perspective on how to "co-create a brave space for those left living to remember, reflect, and hold appreciative dialogue".
I served as the Educator in Residence and provided moral tales for children and resources for families related to each weekly theme. My goal was to offer ways in which families could help their children identify how to transform 10 minutes of their time from fear to love.
You can replay any episode from the entire series and access all stories and resources from the website redeemtheten.com.
I also added this valuable resource to the "DIVE/resources for grown-ups/watch" bubbles on the Baja 4 Faith Formation pilot program available here.
