Read and Discuss

Many of us have enough in our lives, and some of us have more than "enough." With your Adults

  1. Read this story by Dawn Star Sarahs-Borchelt. It begins "Once upon a time there was a family. Maybe this family had not quite enough to eat. Or maybe they had just about enough. Or … perhaps they had MORE than enough. You might not have been able to tell. THEY might not have been able to tell. Sometimes it’s hard to tell if you have enough or not. It’s hard not to want more or different things than you have." https://www.uua.org/worship/words/story/when-you-have-more-enough

  2. Talk about what comes to mind when you think about having "enough". What do you have enough of? what do you wish you had more of?

  3. What does "enough" feel like for you? What does it feel like to not have "enough"?

  4. How do you and your family share when you have "more than enough"?

**Pro Tip**

Encourage younger folks to define "enough" as more than just things (toys, food, money). Think about intangible items like love, family, friends, time, and education. You know your child best and how to talk about what the family has and doesn't have without shaming children for wanting things and reminding them that they can value connections.
